Overview

This journey takes you through the mountain highlights of Northern Greece, linking three very different regions into one route. It begins in Meteora, where huge rock pillars rise and centuries-old monasteries stand on their tops.

From there, the path leads to Zagori, a land of stone villages, arched bridges, and cobbled paths connecting communities through the dramatic Vikos Gorge and surrounding mountains.

The journey ends in Prespes, a peaceful lake region on the borders of Greece, Albania, and North Macedonia. Here, reed beds line the shore, pelicans fly over the water, and small chapels rest on tiny islands.

One route through three iconic places—Meteora, Zagori, and Prespes—where history, village life, and local flavors come together in an inviting journey.

We had a fantastic tour with Monopati. The scenery was truly stunning and the food was delicious. We mostly stayed in very comfortable traditional small family run hotels in lovely villages. Kostas was a brilliant guide who went to a lot of trouble to ensure that we had the best possible experience and we really felt we were good friends by the end of our holiday. We consider it was good value for the money paid. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Truly a unique and beautiful experience. I had never visited the mainland of Greece, but this tour (and the great guidance of Kostas) made me fall in love with it. The regions we visited were surprisingly varied, both in culture and nature, but the warmth of the local people was always there. The guesthouses were in constant competition of being the best we ever stayed in, and made us want to stay much longer. The only issue I can think of is that I actually gained weight, despite of the hikes, because the food was simply amazing. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone who considers, and thank our guide Kostas for making this trip both special and fun!

I found the whole 9 day walking experience managed and run by Monopati (Kostas) to be excellent. His attention to detail and concern that his guests had a great experience was first class. I would have no hesitation recommending these walking holidays to those interested in experiencing the real Greece in great company and using excellent accommodation along the way.
